The first decisive step in the establishment of the chapter was on March 1, 1946 when prominent people in the community approached with this idea by Mrs. Rosario Valdes, the first appointed chapter administrator, met for the first time to discuss the matter.Among them was the venerable Atty. Ricardo Nolan.After subsequent meetings the board of directors was constituted. Atty. Nolan was unanimously elected chairman. The members were: Fernando Fuentes, Ildefonso Jimenez, Jose Buenaventura, Atty. Julian Hernaez, Atty. Vicente Remitio, Lt. Col. Jose Gonzales, Aurelio Servando, Dr. Ricardo Jara, Agustin Coscolluela and Dominador L. Lopez. On April 15, 1947, a charter was granted to the Province of Negros Occidental after all requisites had been satisfactorily complied with. This unit was named ‘Negros Occidental Chapter’. Atty. Ricardo Nolan remained as Chairman from the first year of the chapter until his death on May 22, 1957. Arthur Cooper took over as chairman until Jan 14, 1961, when he died of heart attack in Copenhagen while on a world tour. Remigio Abello became the next chairman until the present.
