ABRA
It originated as a sub-chapter of the Ilocos Sur Red Cross Chapter in the early days of 1947. It’s first Officer in Charge was Dr. Erotida Valera while the First Chairman was a dedicated laywoman in the person of Ms. Honorata Villamor. After a brief stint, Dr. Valera left the Red Cross and she was succeeded by Miss Melchora Eduarte, who served up to 1949. After Miss Eduarte, Miss Enriqueta Purugganan took over as the third OIC but she resigned in 1952. Miss Caridad Buncab then took over as OIC and she served in that capacity until the middle part of 1953. On December 23, 1953, right after her training, Miss Luz B. Bringas assumed the position vacated by Miss Buncab followed by the election of Dr. Pedro Ferandiz as Chairman of the Board of Directors
