In 1950, Carmeling P. Crisologo started as a volunteer when her husband Rep. Floro Crisologo was a member of the Ilocos Sur Chapter Board. Ever since she was always supportive of the chapter activities.

In 1964, when she was elected governor of Ilocos Sur, Carmeling Pichay Crisologo was immediately elected Chairman of the board of directors.

It is in this position of the provincial humanitarian organization that she held since then up to the present.

Her role in the Ilocos Sur Red Cross since then has been to stabilize the chapter, patiently involving the community, tapping government employees to be members of the board.

The chapter is housed in a lot, 600 sq. m. donated by the Ilocos Sur government when she was the governor and the building built thru the efforts of her friend, Mrs. Virginia Ramirez-Cruz, who was then a director of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office in 1966.
