The Philippine Red Cross assisted five returning (5) Pinoys from Haiti on Saturday, consisting of two (2) adults, two (2) children below 10 years old and one infant at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Victor Torrizo, 52, Viccina Torrizo, 10, Allen Vincent Torrizo, 6, Badette Villagracia, 39, and  one year old infant Art Raymond Villagracia arrived at around six in the morning via Philippine Airlines Flight PR 103.

The PRC team of social workers immediately conducted medical check-up, stress debriefing and trauma counseling to these repatriates.

"This is part of the psychosocial support the Red Cross is extending to the Filipino survivors of the Haiti Quake who may have been traumatized by the said event”, PRC Chairman Senator Gordon said.

PRC medics also provided medical support, checked vital signs, and provided ambulance and first-aid service to the repatriates.

6-year-old Allen, who can still recall what has happened on January 13, said he immediately went out of their house.

“I’m in the second floor then suddenly ate Viccina was yelling at me to immediately go down. I almost slipped because I was panicking. Then me and my ate immediately went out of the house.

Out of 67 Filipinos who are expected to return to the country, only 11 persons were already successfully repatriated.

On January 13, 2010, Port-Au-Prince, Haiti experienced a catastrophic 7.0-magnitude tremor earthquake, which left thousands dead and a myriad of infrastructures in rubbles.
