Staff and volunteers of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Metro Manila chapters are now in full swing in assisting affected families due to typhoon Ondoy which hit Central Luzon.
As of 2 p.m., PNRC Operation Center reported that around 1,504 families were already served and 839 individuals were rescued by Water Search and Rescue Operation teams.
Three (3) Water Search and Rescue Teams were redeployed in Pasig since most of the calls that PNRC Operation center received were in line with requests for rescue in the said area.
Approximately, 130 walk-in volunteers are already at PNRC National headquarters, packing relief goods, accepting in-kind and cash donations and helping PNRC staff and volunteers monitor the situation.
Meanwhile, PNRC Secretary General Gwendolyn Pang said that other rescue equipment, rubber boats, generator sets, fuel and vehicles shall be on standby for possible operation or deployment.
“Let us all continue to monitor, coordinate and report status of evacuees, overflow of dams, landslides, floods and general conditions to the PNRC National Headquarters Operation Center,” said Pang.
