The Red Cross Youth Department will be having its Coordination Meeting with the ten (10) International Friendship Project (IFP) recipient Chapters for 2009-2010 this April 23-24, 2009 at Bayview Park Hotel. The new recipient Chapters are: Abra, Alaminos City-Western Pangasinan, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, La Union-San Fernando City, Western Samar, Cebu, Ozamis City, Zamboanga del Norte-Dipolog City, and Agusan del Sur. Chapter Administrators or Chaper representatives will be attending the event to be oriented about the implementation guidelines and process by the RCY Department.

The IFP is a Japanese Red Cross-funded project wherein 6,000 indigent children every year receive school supplies and their respective schools receive sports equipment. This project is being implemented through the Red Cross Youth Department of PNRC and has been on-going since 2003.

The Red Cross Youth Department is seeking to expand and intensify its involvement with the youth by reaching out to them through Youth Forums. These Forums are of particular value because they will not only help disseminate information about the PNRC and the RCY but they will also challenge these youth leaders to tackle humanitarian concerns on their capacity that is being presented to them.
