The Quezon City Chapter was formerly part of the Manila – Quezon City Chapter, one of 35 Chapters already in operation when the Philippine National Red Cross became independent of the American Red Cross in 1947.
By action of the PNRC Board, then under the Chairmanship of Dona Aurora Aragon – Quezon, the Quezon City Chapter became independent on October 25, 1948, with Mayor Ponciano Bernardo as its First Chairman.
