As summer sets in the country, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is now ready to accept enrollees for its Summer Safety Institute (SSI) to educate the public with knowledge and skills on different life-saving courses.
The institute primarily includes First Aid and Basic Life Support Training in its core together with courses from the Water Safety program like Basic Swimming, Water Safety and Rescue and Lifeguarding.
“Being the leading first aid provider in the country, the Philippine Red Cross continuously develops well-trained staff and volunteers to deliver swift response in times of emergency and disaster. That’s why we invite people to join the Red Cross. We are urging everyone to learn life-saving knowledge and skills and be a certified Red Cross member,” PRC Chairman Richard Gordon said.
The SSI is a program of the PRC’s Safety Services that aims to educate people of different age groups and train them in various lifesaving courses.
The institute is also offering variety of packages with courses on PRC’s service arms like Health, Disaster Management, Blood, Volunteer, International Humanitarian Law (IHL), and Red Cross Youth (RCY).
Along with the safety training, the PRC provides courses on Ambulance Operation, Rope Rescue, Standard Disaster Risk Reduction Management Training, IHL Information Dissemination, Blood Facilitators Workshop, Psychosocial Support Program and Expressive Arts, Public Health in Emergency, Basic Volunteer Orientation, and RCY trainings to further involve the youth.
