Tropical Depression Kristine

As of October 23, 2004 | 6PM

SITUATION REPORT

Typhoon Kristine has now intensified and is bringing heavy rains and strong winds as it moves closer to Northern Luzon. The typhoon’s effects are already being felt in several parts of the country.

Heavy rainfall has caused flooding in various areas in Albay, particularly in low-lying municipalities such as Polangui, Tiwi, and Libon, forcing families to evacuate to safer grounds.

In Camarines Sur, specifically Sipocot and Naga City; and in Sorsogon Province, local authorities are monitoring river systems as water levels continue to rise, threatening nearby communities. Landslides have also been reported in parts of Albay due to continuous downpours.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is urgently appealing for donations to support our preparedness and response efforts as Typhoon Kristine continues to impact communities. PRC teams are on the ground in Albay and other affected areas, conducting rescue operations, providing relief supplies, and assisting in evacuations. However, we need your support to reach more affected families and strengthen our response across all regions.
