PRC has long been providing hygiene promotion and building sanitation facilities in schools and vulnerable communities. This year, we provided hygiene promotion activities to 166, 430 individuals across the country and facilitated information dissemination on the importance of practicing personal hygiene, proper food handling, and proper toilet use and maintenance.
Today, we are joining the United Nations World Toilet Day 2022 campaign, called “Making the Invisible Visible” with the theme “Sanitation and Groundwater”.
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) partners with Lifebuoy to reach 1,000,000 children and educate them on the importance of proper handwashing through its Global handwashing campaign which started on October 15, 2021.
Lifebuoy donated 4,500 pcs of 235 ML Hand sanitizers, 51,000 soaps, and 1,000 sanitizers to the PRC to be able to distribute it to the different chapters and conduct seminars on increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an easy, effective, and affordable way to prevent diseases.
“We need to equip ourselves with proper knowledge on hanwashing para tayo ay makaiwas sa sakit kagaya ng diarrhea, cough, colds, pneumonia, and skin rashes, at COVID-19. Mahalagang turuan natin ang kabataan ng sa gayon ay maturo nila ito sa next generation,”PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said.
PRC will continue to educate the youth on proper handwashing through its local chapters, conduct seminars, and make PRC WASH facilities accessible in schools, markets, isolation facilities, and public areas.
