Volunteers from the Philippine Red Cross(PRC) Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Unit(WASH) continue urgent response to communities affected by the recent Super Typhoon Odette. Through the leadership of PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon, teams provide swift assistance in water distribution to places with limited to no supply of clean water to prevent waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, typhoid fever, and other diseases caused by dirty water.

“ Walang pagod at handang tumulong ang ating mga Red Cross staff at volunteers upang mas mapabilis ang ating pagresponde sa mga nasalanta ng typhoon Odette,” emphasized Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon.

According to the PRC’s WASH Unit, yesterday, February 21, 2022, teams distributed more than 60,000 liters of water as they deployed these to Super Typhoon Odette-stricken Cebu, Siargao, and Negros Oriental.

Teams continue water distribution operations today as they target to provide 44,799 liters in Negros Oriental, 35,000 liters in Oslob, and 15,055 liters in Lapu-Lapu Cordova Cebu. 

As of late, the humanitarian organization has distributed more than 10,879, 633 liters of water since the devastation of the recent super typhoon.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) received a PHP 570,400 donation from the Japan

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines Inc. (JCCI) last February 21,

2022, to support the affected families in the relief and recovery efforts brought on by the

devastation of Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai).

The Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) is a network of comprehensive

local economic organizations made up of the representatives of some 1.25 million

member businesses nationwide, embracing everything from large and medium-sized

corporations down to small firms and sole proprietors. JCCI’s goal is to encourage the

full flowering of individual inspiration by helping member companies, their employees,

and their respective communities ceaselessly foster bold innovations, making the most

of their unique qualities.

A turnover ceremony was held at the PRC National Headquarters and was attended by

PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon, Mitsubishi Corporation Manila Branch

President Mr. Keiichi Matsunaga, Cavite Export Zone Investors Association Mr. Nobuo

Fujii, and JCCI Sec. General Mr. Tomohiro Koseki. 

“I would like to thank JCCIPI for this generous donation in helping the Filipinos affected

by Super Typhoon Odette. Thank you also for choosing the Philippine Red Cross as

your partner of choice and becoming the bridge to alleviate the suffering and uplift the

dignity of the affected families. Rest assured that this donation will go a long way

towards their recovery and will help those people get back on their feet,” Chairman

Gordon said.

Even two months after Typhoon Odette wreaked havoc in the Visayas and Mindanao

region, PRC continues to assist affected families nonstop and in need of direct help

through continuous water distribution, supplying hot meals, providing food and non-food

items, plus undertaking shelter rebuilding.

PRC RESPONDS TO FIRE INCIDENT IN MARIKINA

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) responded to a 2nd alarm fire incident in Marikina City, where residential houses were and affected 53 families last February 14, 2022.

Through the directives of PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon, PRC distributed non-food items to the families affected by the fire. PRC Marikina chapter also set up a welfare desk to support the residents in coping with the situation.

“Kaagad natin ipinadala ang mga non-food items upang magbigay ng immediate support sa naapektuhan ng sunog. Sa paparating na tag-init, doble ingat tayo upang maiwasan natin ang sunog sa ating bahay,” Chairman Gordon said.

PRC also responded to a 2nd alarm fire in a commercial area in Kalaw Mabini, Manila. PRC dispatched a firetruck, a water tanker, and an Ambulance to aid the affected residents.

Intensifying efforts to reach out to COVID-19 hard-hit communities, the Philippine Red Cross(PRC), through the leadership of PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon, continues to deploy their hot meals on wheels food trucks to different locations around Luzon.

 Last February 15, 2022, volunteers and staff from the PRC served 620 individuals through the PRC’s Community Feeding Program targeting mostly children, senior citizens, solo parents, and persons with disabilities. 

In Malabon, PRC distributed hot meals to 220 individuals in Perez St. Tonsuya while in barangay 888 Zone 98 District 6 Manila, 200 individuals were given hot meals and loaves of bread provided by Gardenia.

Apart from Metro Manila, the PRC also deployed its hot meals on wheels food truck in Sitio Ulingan Binuwangan, Bagac Bataan serving 200 individuals. 

“Patuloy na aming dinedeploy ang mga food trucks na ito upang mabigyang lunas ang kagutuman na nangyayari sa ating bansa,” reiterates PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon. 

According to the PRC Welfare Services, they target to deploy its food truck to more areas around Metro Manila to intensify serving more communities hardly hit by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

The PRC has 29 Hot meals on Wheels food trucks equipped with kitchens that can prepare 100 meals per hour or 800 meals on an 8-hour operation.

Helping the nation win the war against COVID-19, since March 2021, Philippine Red Cross has been at the forefront supporting the National COVID-19 Vaccination rollout through the establishment of 26 Bakuna Centers, the deployment of 17 PRC Bakuna Buses, and the deployment of PRC vaccinators to augment more than 30 LGU-operated Bakuna Centers across the country.

Today, February 12, 2022, the Philippine Red Cross(PRC) has reached another breakthrough as they have now administered one million doses of vaccines.

“The Red Cross has always gone out to bring vaccines to the people, and always assures them of the safety and efficacy of vaccination. Together, let us win our war against COVID-19, ” emphasized Chairman and CEO Senator Richard Gordon.

The PRC’s vaccination program began with the launch of its first Bakuna Center in the PRC National Headquarters last March 23, 2021. Later on, the humanitarian organization first deployed its Bakuna Bus in Barangay Tanong, Marikina, last July 1, 2021. By the end of 2021, the humanitarian organization has administered over 856,208 doses. 

The PRC National Vaccination Program is made possible through the support of the International Federation of Red Cross(ICRC), Netherlands Red Cross, German Red Cross, corporate partners such as Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola Foundation, LAZADA, and Bakuna Bus partners; Victory Liner, Ceres Bus, and UBE Express.

“Mabisa ang lahat ng bakuna at makakaligtas ito ng buhay. Hinihikayat ko ang lahat ng Pilipino na magpabakuna na ngayon, ito ang ating solution sa COVID-19” reiterates Senator Richard Gordon.

Outside the vaccine, the PRC shoulders all other costs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Program of the government including but not limited to syringes, mobilization, and vaccinator allowances.

Increasing their efforts to fight against COVID-19, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), through the leadership of Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon continues to deploy their Bakuna Buses to administer primary, secondary and booster vaccine doses in partnership with Lazada Philippines this February 15, 2022 up to February 19, 2022.

“The more people we vaccinate, the closer we are getting to reaching herd immunity,” Senator Dick Gordon.

According to the PRC Health Services, this week, the PRC volunteers are targeting to administer doses for 600 individuals as the Bakuna Buses will be deployed in the following areas: Barangay Malanday and Fortune, Barangay North Fairview, San Bartolome, and at the LAZADA Hub in San Pedro Laguna.

As of February 14, 2022, the PRC Bakuna Buses, in partnership with Lazada Philippines, have administered 3,373 doses since launching the program last January 2022. The partnership aims to boost vaccination rates through Lazada’s donations enabling PRC to support its Bakuna Bus Deployments until May 2022.

Meanwhile, the PRC has also achieved another milestone as they have now administered more than a million doses since launching their COVID-19 Vaccination Program last March 2021. Being of assistance by helping our country curb the pandemic, the humanitarian organization has now administered 1,002,041 doses as of February 14, 2022.

“The best way to protect yourself, your loved ones, and the people around you is by getting vaccinated,” Gordon said.

In celebration of Valentine’s Day 2021, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continues to provide clean and potable water in Negros Oriental as it distributed 15,000 liters of water in Brgy. Campus, Manjuyod last February 14, 2022. PRC also conducted a mobile blood donation and collected 39 blood units in Guihulngan.

Two months after Typhoon Odette battered the provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao region, local PRC chapters continue to conduct humanitarian interventions to aid the most vulnerable affected by the typhoon. PRC also conducted house-to-house validations in Cabanlutan, Bais City, and coordinated with the LGUs for shelter assistance in Bais City.

“Hindi natin papabayaan ang mga apektado ng bagyo. Narito lagi ang Red Cross handang tumulong sa mga nangangailangan sa panahon ng bagyo, kalamidad, at pandemya. As we abide to our motto of being always first, always ready, and always there,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said.

Since the start of Odette operations in Negros Oriental, PRC has provided 3,911 face masks, 2,926 food packs, 6,289 hot meals, and distributed 1,039,318 liters of water.

The country’s premier humanitarian organization continues to support the National COVID-19 vaccination program of the government as it launched the vaccination of minors aged five to eleven years old in the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Zamboanga City Chapter yesterday, February 15, 2022. 

“Ang Red Cross volunteers ay patuloy na nagpapadala ng mga bakuna sa mga tao, at palagi naming tinitiyak ang kaligtasan at pagiging epektibo ng mga bakuna dahil. Tulong-tulong tayong upang mapigilan na ang pandemya,”  reiterates PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon.

According to the PRC Health Services, volunteers from the chapter administered 204 doses of vaccines manufactured by Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca, Sinovac, and Sputnik. 90 out of 204 administered doses were for minors aged five to eleven years old who received their primary shots of Pfizerer yesterday morning.

As of February 15, 2022, the PRC Zamboanga City Chapter has administered a total of 36,140 doses while fully vaccinating 14,488 individuals since opening their Bakuna Center last September 2021 in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) immediately deployed a firetruck, ambulance, and a water tanker with an 11 man team to assist anxious and distressed families caught by a fire that reached the 5th alarm at Brgy. 24, 25, and 26 in Cavite City on February 12, 2022.

According to reports, an estimated 4,000 families and 800 houses were affected by the fire incident. PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon immediately deployed the Hot Meals on Wheels to assist the families that evacuated and are currently staying temporarily at the Ladislao Diwa Elementary School. PRC distributed porridge with eggs to 305 individuals.

“Nagpadala kami ng food truck sa naapektuhan ng sunog noong february 12, 2022. Ang pagkain ay isa sa pinaka kailangan ng tao at ito ay libre. Pipila na lamang sila at kakainin nalang ito hindi na nila iisipin kung paano lutuin. The Red Cross is always here to alleviate the suffering of any Filipinos,” Sen. Gordon said.

PRC has a total fleet of 29 food trucks stationed in key strategic areas, where it also serves as the first respondents in times of disaster, calamities, and conflict. At the height of the surge in COVID-19 cases last 2021, PRC Hot Meals recently provided ready-to-eat meals to COVID-19 affected families and during the Typhoon Odette operations, where it also served 117,584 individuals since it started its typhoon operations last December 2021.

The Philippine Red Cross(PRC) continues to send hope to those affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Last February 11, 2022, volunteers from PRC Malabon Chapter provided 200 hot meals to COVID-19 affected individuals at Barangay Panghulo.

“Ang aming layunin ay magbigay ng pag asa sa mga nangangailangan lalo na ngayong pandemya. Anuman ang mangyari, patuloy lang ang pagserbisyo ng Red Cross volunteers at staff upang mas marami pang matulungan na mga Pilipino sa iba’t ibang sulok ng Pilipinas,” reiterates Senator Dick Gordon. 

The PRC Malabon Chapter has now provided 600 meals since launching its Community Feeding program this month targeting seniors and children around different areas of Malabon. 

Last February 2, 2022, the PRC served 150 beneficiaries in Katarungan St. Brgy. Muzon while on February 3, 2022, PRC volunteers provided meals to another 150 beneficiaries in N. Vicencio St. Brgy. Niugan. Community feeding was also conducted last February 8, 2022, at Barangay Hall Potrero serving 300 beneficiaries.
