The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continues to assist Davao Penal Colony in Panabo, Davao del Norte which started last November 10, 2021. 

The Diarrhea Outbreak in Davao Penal Colony, is the fourth outbreak in Davao this 2021. PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon immediately deploys the water tankers to provide clean and potable water to ensure the safety of the residents. 

“Laging nakahanda ang ating mga water tankers at water bladder upang makapag bigay ng malinis at ligtas na tubig sa mga naapektuhan ng Diarrhea Outbreak. Apat na beses na nangyari ang Outbreak sa Davao kaya naman layunin ng Philippine Red Cross na iinform ang mga tao sa proper water sanitation, and hygiene,” Sen. Dick Gordon said. 

To date, PRC has distributed 73,000 liters of water, installed 1 water bladder, and distributed 1,500 leaflets on health information dissemination to the residents.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) deploys its Hot Meals on Wheels to COVID-19 affected residents in Brgy. Poblacion 1B and Caingin, Maragondon, and provided 200 individuals with food packs last November 19, 2021.

PRC continues to deploy the Hot Meals on Wheels as part of its Covid-19 response to provide ready-to-eat meals to affected residents who lost their livelihoods due to the pandemic.

“Walang maiiwan ngayong pandemya. Patuloy natin idedeploy ang mga food trucks natin to alleviate human suffering. Dinagdagan pa natin ang ating food trucks upang mas marami ang masilbihan nating mga kababayan,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen Dick Gordon said.

PRC has now a total of 28 food trucks positioned in the different local chapters to provide immediate assistance in times of need.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continues its COVID-19 operations through the deployment of the Bakuna Bus in Calauan, Laguna. PRC Lagna Chapter, together with the local government (LGU) unit of Calauan, Laguna aims to vaccinate 1,000 individuals belonging to the A3-A4 priority group on November 15, 2021.

PRC has  25 Bakuna Centers and a fleet of 16 Bakuna Bus, stationed in different parts of the country to assist the local government unit in vaccinating the residents as soon as possible. PRC has now vaccinated 409,442 individuals since it began its vaccination program last March 2021.

“Mas lalo nating ipinagtitibay ang ating pagbabakuna. Sa ngayon ay bumabalik na tayo sa normal, ngunit hindi ito dapat maging rason upang ilower natin ang ating guard kontra COVID-19. Continuous testing and vaccination ay ang susi upang malabanan natin ang COVID-19,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, PRC continues to provide humanitarian services to alleviate human suffering and uplift the dignity of the people. PRC Laguna Chapter in partnership with the Santa Rosa City Police Station, Santa Rosa Police Advisory council, Rotary Club of Santa Rosa,  and City of Brave Matikas Eagles Club, also conducted a bloodletting activity at the Santa Rosa sports complex on November 14, 2021.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Cotabato City-Maguindanao molecular laboratory received its License to Operate from the Department of Health on November 11, 2021, after passing its efficiency test set by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine last October 01, 2021.

PRC, Cotabato City – Maguindanao is the 14th molecular laboratory in the country, which will begin its operation on November 12, 2021. The new molecular laboratory is in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). It is equipped with two polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machines and one ribonucleic acid (RNA) extractor capable of conducting 2,000 tests a day, which will serve Maguindanao, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, and Davao City.

“Layunin ng Philippine Red Cross na mas marami pa ang ating ma-test upang maiwasan natin ang hawaan ng COVID-19. Sa ngayon ay 200 test per day lamang ang capacity ng Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, at sa pamamagitan ng bagong molecular laboratory ay mas mapapabilis natin at mapapalakas ang COVID-19 response sa mga lugar na nasasakupan nito,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said.

It is through the leadership of Sem. Dick Gordon to establish the molecular laboratories in strategic areas to make it more accessible for the people who want to get tested for COVID-19. PRC tested a total of 4,870,989 as of November 11, 2021. Of over 281 molecular laboratories in the country, PRC has the biggest output of any organization representing 21% of the national testing output.

PRC also is ramping up vaccination efforts nationwide to get more people vaccinated as soon as possible through the Bakuna centers and PRC bakuna busses, having inoculated over 393,617 individuals.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) hit one million Saliva RT-PCR tests on November 12, 2021, since its launching last January 25, 2021. PRC Saliva RT-PCR test is the first and only in the country.

Saliva RT-PCR test is a study by the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign Campus (UIUC) and the University of the Philippines as an alternative to the Swab RT-PCR test. The saliva RT-PCR test is through the initiative of PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon to bring a faster, cheaper, and non-invasive alternative for the swab RT-PCR test.

PRC also innovates to make the Saliva RT-PCR test accessible to the public through its local chapters and partnerships with Malls such as SM, Robinsons, Araneta City, and Ayala Malls, making it to 124 collection sites nationwide.

PRC also partners with Angkas to make Saliva RT-PCR collection sites to make RT-PCR tests convenient for the clients who want to get tested in the comfort of their homes.

“Testing is the key. Sa pag abot natin nang one million saliva tests conducted, ay patuloy na magtetest ang Philippine Red Cross sa ating mga kababayan. Malapit na magbukas ang mga paaralan, kaya dapat mas ipagtibay natin ang pagtetest at pagbabakuna upang labanan ang COVID-19,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said.

PRC is the leading organization with 4.8 million people tested. With the drive-thru collection sites nationwide, Home service saliva collection sites, and the opening of the 14th PRC molecular laboratory in the Philippines, PRC will soon reach the 5 million mark in the following weeks, gearing to be a significant help in the battle against COVID-19.

 “The saliva RT-PCR test with an accuracy of 98.23% remains to be a game-changer for our country. The reduced cost of testing (PHP 1,500), gives way to test more people such as students, employees, factory workers, healthcare workers, and other essential workers. Rest assured that PRC remains committed to its duty of finding ways to test more and keep Filipinos out of harm’s way,” Sen. Gordon said.

PRC VACCINATION CONTINUES IN BATANGAS

Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon ordered the deployment of the Bakuna Bus to San Nicolas, Batangas, and will vaccinate 800 individuals on November 10, 2021.

PRC Batangas chapter aims to inoculate Batangueños through the Resbakuna Vaccination Programs and continue to move forward and further assist our Local Government Unit in the vaccine rollout. The vaccination teams are all deployed with physicians, nurses, ambulance personnel, staff, and volunteers.

“Tuloy tuloy ang ating pagbabakuna sa Batangas. Katuwang ng local government unit ay mas mapapabilis natin ang ating pagbabakuna at mararating ang malalayong lugar sa pmamagitan ng Bakuna Bus. Kapag lider at ang tao ang nagsama, lalabas ang galing ng Pilipino,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said.

PRC Batangas Chapter also conducted a mass blood donation drive (MBD) at the Municipality of Calatagan, Batangas, last November 9, 2021. A total of 36,450ml of the collected healthy blood from our 81 donors are collected and will provide opportunities for the Red Cross to save more lives. Sen. Gordon also encourages the unvaccinated to get their vaccines as this is the best defense against COVID-19. PRC continues to vaccinate more individuals as the holiday season approaches.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) assisted Barangay Calibuyo, Punta 1, and Sahud Ulan in Tanza Cavite due to the cholera outbreak which caused the death of one individual and  affecting 20 more people, last November 07, 2021.

PRC Cavite Chapter are in coordination with the local government unit health services and provide Information, Education, and Communication materials for social media posting to provide proper information on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene to prevent diseases like the cholera. 

Health authorities are already investigating the source of the cholera outbreak in the said barangay. According to the RHU of Tanza, residents have nothing to worry about because they are in control of the situation.

“Sa Red Cross ay mayroon kaming Water, Sanitation, Hygiene services na nagbibigay ng safe, clean, and potable water sa mga emergencies kagaya ng cholera at diarrhea outbreak,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said.

Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon warns the public on complacency in observing health protocols after the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases approved to place Metro Manila under Alert Level 2 on November 5.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), active cases might reach 52,393 next month if the public ignores the safety measures, and pandemic responses such as detection and isolation would slow down.

“Importante na patuloy pa rin tayo magiingat dahil delikado pa rin ang epekto ng virus. Kahit tayo ay bakunado, may kakayahan pa rin tayo na makapanghawa sa mga unvaccinated kagaya ng mga bata. Sa pagbaba sa alert level 2, patuloy pa rin tayo magpatest upang ma kaagad na madetect ang virus, at mag-isolate kung may nararamdamang symptomps,” Sen. Dick Gordon said.

PRC continues its vaccination program through its Bakuna Bus and Bakuna Centers to combat COVID-19. PRC also started its vaccination to minors aged 12-17 after getting a go-signal from the DOH.

Sen. Dick Gordon also reiterates the importance of regular testing for the detection of COVID-19. As of November 09, 2021, PRC conducted 4,854, 072 tests through Swab and Saliva RT-PCR.

As the humanitarian organization reaches 5 million tests, PRC aims to provide a safe Christmas for everyone through its RT-PCR tests.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continued its Bakuna Bus deployment and vaccinated 329 individuals in Cagayan and Mandaue City last November 06, 2021.

PRC Bakuna Bus vaccinated 23 individuals in Tuguegarao, Cagayan and 306 individuals in Bry. Cabancalan, Mandaue City received their first dose of vaccine.

“Tuloy-tuloy ang ating deployment ng Bakuna Buses upag mas marami ang mabakunahan. kaht na bumababa ang bagong kaso ng COVID-19, tayo ay dapat paring mag-ingat dahil delikado parin ang epekto ng virus lalo na sa mga di pa nababakunahan,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said.

PRC also started to vaccinate minors after getting a go signal from the Department of Health. PRC Vaccinated more than 50 minors aged 12-17 years old. PRC will continue to vaccinate and serve the most vulnerable in this time of the pandemic.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) deploys its Bakuna Buses in Cagayan, Aklan, Capiz, and Lucena on November 05, 2021, and targets to inoculate 1,065 individuals belonging to the A3-A4 categories.

The Bakuna Bus, operated by PRC staff and volunteers, reached the province of Bouquet, Cagayan to vaccinate 180 individuals, Manika, Aklan vaccinating 100 individuals, 200 individuals in BJMP, Los Banos, Laguna, 250 individuals at Ponteverde, Capiz, and 335 individuals in Dupa, Quezon-Lucena.

“Tuloy-tuloy ang ating pagbabakuna sa ating kababayan. Ang ating mga bakuna Bus ay naka-deploy sa iba’t ibang sulok ng ating bansa upang mapabilis ang ating pagbabakuna, sa tulong ng mga local government unit,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon said.

PRC continues to deploy its bakuna buses to vaccinate more people in the coming weeks to ensure the safety of the individuals, despite the lowering of cases.

Chairman Gordon strongly reiterates the importance of vaccination and continuous testing to prevent COVID-19. According to Sen. Gordon, “This is not the time to be complacent and keep our guard up as COVID-19 can still be easily transmitted to unvaccinated individuals.”
